Paul Studer’s path to becoming a recording artist and published author has been shaped by deep love, profound loss and a lifelong desire to be heard.
For many years, Paul lived a quiet life with his beloved wife, Diane. She was his anchor, his constant companion through life’s many challenges. When Diane passed away in November 2022, Paul’s world was shattered. Grieving deeply and struggling with his mental health, he voluntarily sought medical help. Sadly, his grief was misunderstood and he was wrongly institutionalised. Even more devastating, he was not allowed to attend Diane’s funeral. That heartbreak became the driving force behind everything that followed.
Paul made a promise. The moment he was free, he would honour Diane’s memory in the most meaningful way he could. That promise became All My Love, his debut album and a heartfelt tribute to the woman who meant everything to him.

Pauls’s story is far from ordinary
Just days after Diane’s passing, Paul recognised the signs of an oncoming breakdown and asked to be hospitalised. Although he entered voluntarily, he was later sectioned and denied the right to leave. As his grief was mistaken for illness, Paul realised that the only way to keep his promise to Diane was to find a way out.
With quiet determination and help from strangers along the way, he secured an emergency passport, gained the trust of airport staff and boarded a flight to Switzerland. In the town of Solothurn, he sought refuge in a local church and spent time connecting with the community as he searched for his Swiss roots.
Although he did not find any blood relatives, Paul found something just as valuable. The people of Solothurn welcomed him, and for a short time, they became his family. When he felt it was time to return home, he made the journey back to the UK.
On arrival at Manchester Airport, Paul was detained by the authorities. The hospital had alerted Interpol and the police were waiting. He was taken back into care and, once again, hope seemed to fade.
But then something changed.
Paul’s case was reviewed. His clarity of thought, his courage and his determination to keep a promise told a very different story. It was clear that he did not belong in an institution. The decision was made to release him.
Finally free to create the tribute he had promised, Paul began work on All My Love. When the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra heard his story, they offered to record the album with him. Together, they created something extraordinary.
Paul later held a new service for Diane, surrounded by friends and family. This time, he was able to say goodbye properly. The love of his life was honoured with music, memories and one final serenade.
Since then, Paul has continued to write and record. His music and books are deeply personal, often reflective, and always sincere. They tell a story of heartbreak, hope and healing — and they offer comfort to others who may have walked a similar path.
